Two Faced Jack 10°

Two Faced Jack 10°

Now more than ten years ago, a group of friends started a beer tasting club. Every two weeks they came together at one of their homes to drink a good Belgian beer and to discuss beer, women and football. During the years the interest in beer grew. This resulted in following brewing courses in 2007. From that year on, they started “Hobbybrouwerij Het Nest (Home Brewery the Cradle)”. Their first success was a third place at the Open Dutch Championship for home brewers in the “triple” class.
Strong fruity wooden toffee aroma with alcohol and spice notes. Sweetish coke and toast taste with licorice, fruit, and wood notes. Sweetish fruity spicy herbal aftertaste with licorice and earth notes. Excellent balance of wood character, cellar character, freshness, sweetness, and bitterness. Quite impressive..

168- Het Kapittel Watou Blond beer – Van Eecke Brewery

Available online at http://store.belgianshop.com/abbey-beers/1248-het-kapittel-blond-65-13l.html

Just as abbeys try to strengthen their communities by attracting new young monks, brewery Van Eecke introduced this blond Kapittel to answer the big demand for paler beers. This 2010 Gold medal awarded blond Abbey-beer has a surprising smooth finish, is easy to drink with its 6.5 % alcohol volume. Although some may call this beer a “strong Belgian blond”, you’ll discover a lightly sour-sweet yeasty fruit on a par with mildly sweet pale malts and a refreshing flow of really fragrant, springy flower blossoms, orangey-citric fruity hops with a mildly mineral, chewy bitterness. The finishing undertone is a tad zesty or slightly tangy to render a intriguing contrast with the smooth flowery aftertaste, light on the carbonation, just sufficient to render a refreshing palate, against a medium body and moderate flavor profile.

174- Het Kapittel Dubbel beer – Van Eecke Brewery

In our brewing process for the 7,5° dubbel we use extra winter malt . This increase in malt results in a higher alcohol content, so the yeast that feeds on the sugars in the malt is given a feast of greater proportions. By adding sugar, also known as “Belgian candy,” we can increase the activity of the yeast, and the beer gets a second fermentation in the bottle, carbonating the beer in a natural way. This gives the beer a beautiful and large froth. This fine Dubbel has a rich malt aroma of malt, yeast, dark fruit, & spice; flavors of sweet malt, yeast, caramel, dark fruit, raisons, and spice, with a faint touch of pleasant bitterness, and it fills up the gap between our 6° Pater and the 9° Prior

181- Het Kapittel Watou Prior beer – Van Eecke Brewery

Available online at http://store.belgianshop.com/abbey-beers/1117-het-kapittel-prior-9-13l.html

Dark brown in color. Plentiful, thick, long lasting head. Fruity, malty with a roasted, smooth taste. Poured a dark beer with a huge head with super great retention. Aroma is comprised of a mix of spices and roastiness. The mix of spices and roastiness is also very present in the taste and very enjoyable and is also accompanied by strong hops. Body is quite strong with good carbonation. The alcohol is extremely subtle which is a plus when you have a 9% beer. Overall, this is another great beer from a very underrated brewery.
