Boon Oude Geuze BLACK LABEL 7°

New: Boon Oude Geuze BLACK LABEL

Gold Medal World Beer Cup 2016
Aroma has plenty of citrus, slight floral, slight horseblanked, sligtht grass. Pretty darn tasty. The taste tart and funky with some citrus, goose berries, basement grapefruit, stable, apples and some wood. Carbonation is extremely high. Nice indeed! Wow this is really complex.

In 2015 De Troch started producing again « De Troch Oude Kriek » with 35% Schaarbeekse krieken.
Clear red colour, pink head. Aroma: very sweet and syrupy first, then some marzipan, cherries, almonds, sourish, bit peppery. MF: soft carbon, medium body. The taste is light sour, quite sweet, has a load of cherries, some cherry pits, light marzipan tones, light funk, tart. Dry and refreshing finish. Wonderful stuff. Balanced, delicate, flavorful.

Bzart Geuze Cuvée 2011 8°

Strictly speaking not an Oude Gueuze, seen the addition of an extra yeast. Pours clear dark golden amber with a white head. Aroma of brett, apples, spice, barnyard and notes of sour grapes.. Body is medium, foamy, soft carbonation. Taste is lemon, champagne, musty, biscuity malt, tangy vinegar, dry, soft bitterness.

3 Fonteinen Golden Doesjel 6°

3 Fonteinen Golden Doesjel 6°

Available at http://store.belgianshop.com/home/1589-3-fonteinen-golden-doesjel-6-375-cl.html

3 Fonteinen Golden Doesjel is an assembly of 1,2 and 3 year old lambic. The popular term « doesjel » means doze off and refers to the secondary fermentation in the bottle that did not happen here. Doesjel has no foam and the authentic taste of lambic beer aged in oak barrels has a strong presence.
Clear golden with a white layer of head. Aromas of dust, cheesy funk, light mint and some rubber are what I could make out. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, watery texture, no carbonation, lightly to moderately astringent. Lack of carbonation softens this considerably. Very enjoyable.

Pours a dark brown body with a brilliant red hue. The ligh-brown head is large, creamy and very dense. Very sweet and rich aroma, lots of malts and brown sugar, molasses, rich, dark dried fruits, orange peel, maybe some spices. The flavors are quite on the sweet side with lots of spices here also. Chocolate, candy, nuts, cardamom, malts, apples and lots of dark dried fruits also. Ends with a little alcohol touch that suits it quite nice. A really nice and sweet experience!
