The beer is named after Theodoor Cornet who, according to the census of 1686, was innkeeper, brewer and distiller of the « DE HOORN » inn in Steenhuffel. He was also a steward of the Count of Maldeghem-Steenhuffel, lord of Diepensteyn. At the count’s request, Theodoor brewed a stock beer. This exclusive beer was kept in oak barrels in the cellars of Diepensteyn Castle. This inspired the brewers and the wood master for the creation of CORNET.

CORNET is a strong blond Belgian beer that has a subtle, willful and sophisticated wood flavour with a note of vanilla and a « velvety » mouth feel that rivals that of an oak-matured wine.

The well rounded, oaked beer balances the fruitiness of the yeast and the sweet vanilla notes of the wood, leaving a warming feeling in the finish along with a smooth bitterness. Top-fermented beer with refermentation in the bottle.

C’est moi la plus belge – I’m the most Belgian

Clear golden beer, creamy frothy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Good level of hoppiness not found in many Belgian beers. Aroma is elegant, delicately expressive and super refined. In the nose, nice hints of blossoms, spring flowers, fine and faint hints of crisp citrus and touches of pale malts. Perfect balanced bitterness and sour/sweetness.Great one.
